The Paciello Group is excited to attend CSUN Assistive Technology Conference 2020, one of the foremost conferences in the field of accessibility. Along with exhibiting in the Vispero booth, TPG will also be hosting several presentations in the Vispero presentation room (Platinum 5).

The following is a listing and a brief description of the presentations that will be given by TPG employees during CSUN:

Wednesday, March 11

  • David O’Neill & Chase Aucoin
    9:00am – Accessibility Monitoring of Interactive User Flows
    In this session, we’ll explore how to use selenium scripts to create, test, and monitor application user flows for accessibility using the ARC platform.
  • Deb Ercoline & Matt Feldman
    10:00am – Creating an Accessible Escape Room
    This fun and interactive presentation will discuss what we’ve learned from creating and running an accessible escape room and how it applies to accessible technology design.

    1:20pm – JAWS Kiosk: What is it and when would I use it?
    Introducing JAWS for kiosks, a highly customizable and powerful screen reading solution for Windows based kiosks.
  • Adrian Roselli
    2:20pm – CSS Display Properties versus HTML Semantics
    Developers who choose HTML elements that best describe a screen’s structure and semantics often don’t know how browsers use their CSS to break those semantics.
  • Hans Hillen
    3:20pm – 40 Minute Audit: Accessibility Gotchas
    In this interactive mini audit, a TPG consultant will race against the clock to find all accessibility issues before the session ends.

    Warning: Limited Seating! Arrive Early to Avoid Disappointment! Are such alarming messages ever appropriate? Is a little anxiety inevitable, or even desirable, in UI/UX design?

    9:00am – Best Practices for Third-Party Accessibility Evaluations
    Learn how Wells Fargo engaged TPG to structure a consistent third-party accessibility evaluation process – including reports, defect classifications, remediation plans, and training materials.

    10:00am – Lessons Learned From Developing Accessible Kiosks
    Subject matter expert Matt Ater will moderate a panel of organizations who have managed accessible kiosk deployments to discuss best practices.

    1:20pm – Overcoming Obstacles to Manual Accessibility Testing
    An inclusive approach for coupling a screenreader’s functionality with a visual testing variant of a screenreader to perform usability testing on web and PDF content.
  • Hans Hillen
    2:20pm – Responsible Responsive Tables: Where Are We Now?
    An overview of the most common approaches for achieving accessible, responsive data tables. Live demonstrations will be provided for each approach.
  • Laura Miller & Rachael Bradley
    3:20pm – Kiosk Accessibility: Understanding the Kiosk User Experience
    Learn best practices for creating a usable, accessible kiosk experience. We will discuss standards, experience and findings from a recent user study.
  • Matthew Atkinson
    4:20pm – Game Accessibility Possibilities and UI Demonstration
    An overview of recent developments in game accessibility, and a demonstration of the potential for games and the web to provide UI accessibility in the future.

Friday, March 13

  • Ashley Bischoff
    8:00am – Be the Helvetica of Ergonomics
    We might not give much thought to ergonomics, but our ability to continue typing can make a difference on whether our livelihoods remain within reach.
  • Matthew Atkinson
    9:00am – Some Fundamental Concepts Underpinning Accessibility Advice
    Understanding fundamental principles by which people using assistive technologies might navigate and perceive your content can help you make appropriate accessibility provisions and avoid common missteps.
  • Jenn Bennhoff & Kurt Mattes
    10:00am – Training New and Current TPSPs and Their Enterprise Contacts
    Learn how Wells Fargo engaged The Paciello Group to create training for new and existing third-party service providers (TPSPs) and internal relationship and engagement managers.

    2:20pm – Digital Accessibility for Compulsive Gamblers
    In this talk, we’ll discuss potential WCAG guidelines for various websites that would better support recovery for compulsive and problem gamblers.
