JAWS Inspect Download Page

The latest version of JAWS Inspect can be downloaded using the link below. (Only authorized users will be able to access the full version; all others will experience the demo version. Users without a JI license are able to use all features, but only access a portion of the text output that a full JI license would provide.) For new installations, download and save the executable file to your PC and install it from there. Please note that JAWS Inspect will run on a Mac through a virtual machine or on Windows via Bootcamp.

    3. Run the executable you just downloaded.

What's new in JAWS Inspect 2024

Note: It is not necessary to have JAWS screen reader installed to run JAWS Inspect. However, if you are a JAWS user you can run both applications at the same time, provided the versions are compatible. If you are going to do this, please upgrade to the latest version of JAWS 2022 or later.

March 2024

The latest JAWS 2024 update is included. To find out what’s new in JAWS 2024 check out the release notes via Freedom Scientific. The offline setup package has been updated to install JAWS 2024.

The latest JAWS 2023 and 2022 update is included. The 2023 and 2022 versions of JAWS received a small update to resolve conflicts with the latest Chrome, Notepad, and Visual Studio Code.

JAWS Inspect 2023 Releases

October 2023

  • JAWS 2024 included. To find out what’s new in JAWS 2024 check out the release notes via Freedom Scientific. The offline setup package has been updated to install JAWS 2024. Meanwhile, the connected setup package now offers the choice to install JAWS 2024, JAWS 2023, or JAWS 2022.

    Please note that the offline setup package no longer includes JAWS 2021 in its installation options.

  • Customize settings during installation. JAWS Inspect now supports two methods of configuring settings during installation:
    1. Configure the following settings via the AppConfiguration section of AdditionalSettings.ini:
      • BrowserProxyServer – Should JAWS Inspect’s internal proxy server be used to provide unique IDs needed for highlighting elements on a page?
      • ProxyServerNotifications – Should JAWS Inspect’s proxy server return parsing errors that are found in the HTML document?
      • ShowChromePluginMessage – Should JAWS Inspect recommend installing the Chrome or Edge extension when they are not installed?
      • ShowFirefoxPluginMessage – Should JAWS Inspect recommend installing the Firefox extension when they are not installed?
      • ShowProxyInstruction – Should JAWS Inspect prompt the user with Proxy Information form when the Proxy Certificate is not installed?
    2. Use the shared JAWS Inspect Settings file. If an InspectSettings.xml file is found in the same directory as the JAWS Inspect Setup Package during installation it will be copied to the shared settings directory. If InspectSettings.xml is not found in the user settings directory, settings will be loaded from the shared settings file. The user will be able to modify these settings.
  • File path settings can be loaded via SpecialFolder. JAWS Inspect supports SpecialFolder based string interpolation when loading file path settings. See the Settings > Customize Settings During Installation page in the JAWS Inspect Help guide for more information.

August 2023

  • The JAWS 2022 July update is now included in JAWS Inspect 2023
  • The .NET Redist and VCRedist libraries have been updated to latest versions
  • No branding info is displayed in the JAWS Inspect About box when activated with a valid JAWS Inspect license migrated to EMS
  • JAWS Inspect Displays “Error Code 18” and Runs in Demo mode When Using Certain .license files

June 2023

  • The JAWS Inspect Setup Package has been updated so that it includes the latest release of JAWS 2023, the JAWS Inspect 2023.2306.1 – June 2023 release.
  • JAWS Inspect is no longer supported on 32-bit versions of Windows.
  • JAWS 2023 included. The offline setup package now installs JAWS 2023. the connected setup package now installs JAWS 2023 with options to install JAWS 2022 and JAWS 2021.
  • What’s New from the Help: Find out about recent improvements and updates to JAWS Inspect from the “What’s New” options in the JAWS Inspect context menu or by view the JAWS Inspect Help.

Additional Changes

  • Specify the height of the Speech Viewer when it is configured to run in AppBar mode.
  • “Access to XMLHttpRequest has been blocked by CORS policy No Access-Control-Allow-Origin header is present on the requested resource” errors have been addressed in Google Chrome.
  • The URL for the JAWS Inspect Firefox Add-on in the Firefox Extension Notification Form has been updated.
  • The supported JAWS version is not updated automatically when installing Inspect 2023 over Inspect 2022
  • Demonstration versions of JAWS Inspect now only show *** Demo Limited *** row every 5 rows in the Speech Viewer
