Overview
TPG have developed a standard training course for Quality Assurance teams that provides the skills necessary to carry out a full accessibility testing program. Where accessibility testing standards already exist, TPG can adapt the course to suit. Where they do not, TPG can assist in developing test scripts to meet specific accessibility standards.
Hands-on Practical Experience
Accessibility testing training is a practical course. Tests are demonstrated by the instructor and then attendees carry these tests out on sample web sites and applications as well as their own projects. Instructors tour the room while this is going on to assist directly and answer questions.
One of the greatest challenges in this kind of testing is getting consistent, repeatable results from assistive technologies, such as screen readers. By the end of the course attendees will be comfortable using these assistive technologies in their Q/A process as well as the other testing tools required.
Among the skills acquired are:
- Direct experience with assistive technologies and the issues they encounter with software and web content.
- Step through each accessibility test.
- Use of the full accessibility testing tools suite, including the Web Accessibility Toolbar.
- Knowledge of the relevant compliant standards.
